A contact tracer basically becomes an investigator.

Tracer-mark carter"contact tracing in particular has been used by health departments probably since there were health departments."

When the health department confirms a case, a contact tracer goes to work finding out who else might've been exposed... carter"we'll say that you've came in contact with someone that's tested positive, what you need to do to protect your own health and then what you need to do to protect your loved ones."

Christy"contact tracers will call you and ask questions about your health, where you've been, and who you've met."

It's a important call that people must take seriously.

"when they get that call their mind immediately goes to oh i'm gonna have to miss work or are they gonna separate me from my children."

Health officials say tracers are reaching about 70 percent of people...and most people cooperate.

The biggest issue is dealing with clusters like nursing homes, factories and businesses.

"and how do you work with them, and ya know balance the need to maintain privacy with the need to inform."

Kentucky has 1,075 tracers..

And may add 250 more.

It's not easy ... calling, waiting for call backs, paperwork on dozens of cases... but it's making the health system much better in the long run.

"we'll have a single system in place when this is all said and done that's been focused on covid but can be used for any kind of contact tracing."

Christy bollinger, abc 36 news.

Carter says contact tracing is just one piece of the public health response..

And people still need to do their part by wearing masks, distancing, and complying with tracers.

The state says it's also working on an online platform to make the contact tracing process easier.

In arguably lca's two biggest games of the regular season last year they were in battles.

The first a 43 to 42 instant classic win over rival lex cath and the other a 35-34 win over district foe somerset.

The one thing these two games have in common?

A decision by head coach doug charles to go for two late in the game.

Doug charles lca head football coach "you know the catholic game the momentum had changed.

We had a lot of young players and they had played so hard and dominated the first half and the second half catholic as we expected would come back, but i really wanted it to be on my shoulders, frankly.

I told our coaches when we were at midfield.

I said, when we score we're going for two.

Get our best two call."

Bryan kennedy abc 36 sports "ten wins and a season like that, that's a tough act to follow and it's going to be even tougher for coach doug and his eagles.

They have to replace three absolute studs from last year's team.

Quarterback jayden barnhardt, one of the best receivers in the state dee smith and their second-leading tackler drew long."

Doug charles "all three of those are next level players and are going on to represent our school, but you know we were young last year.

We only had 6 seniors last year, but we return 17 starters."

And what's the number one job for those returners?

Xavier brown junior rb/db "we all step up.

We have a lot of youth.

We have a lot of talent.

Everybody just needs to step up and fill the void.

One void will be at quarterback and now the eagles have a former cat on staff to help make that decision.

Charles "well we were certainly blessed to have morgan newton join our staff to be our quarterbacks coach.

I had kinda taken the quarterbacks over the years and i'm not a quarterbacks coach by default, but he'll do a much better job than i did for sure.

And we've got three young guys.

All three of them are juniors that are vying for that position."

Whoever wins that job will likely want to end something plaguing the eagles the last couple of seasons...beating the briar jumper in the post season.

Brown "past two years they've gotten us in the regional championship or close to the regional finals.

So it pushes us to get there and do the things we need to do because we really want that state championship."

Lebryk "we gotta work every single day to get better to get back to that spot.

We can't be doing the same because it didn't work our last year so we gotta work a little harder to get past that point.".

Mandy williamson: today, i'm here with jason wraps :adliboff: mandy williamson: today on mom to mom, we're going to get some automotive tips from a local expert.

Mandy williamson: today, i'm here with brian, who is the owner of aamco, two locations, right?

Brian: that's correct.

Mandy williamson: and he knows everything there is to know about automotive needs.

And so this is a college town.

We got college students coming in.

When it comes to these kids and having their own cars and not knowing much about them, what is some advice that you can give when it comes to the automotive needs?

Brian: there's things to look out for.

Pretty simple, top of the line there's three real keys, leaks, lights and noises.

If you've got anything leaking out of your car, no matter what it is,except for water, because that's condensation in the air conditioner.

But oil and that kind of thing, you want to bring it to me and let us take a look at it.

We start with what we call a free vehicle courtesy check so you'll have a chance to understand what the problem is before you even spend any money.

Mandy williamson: awesome.

That's very cool.now you have lights.

Now that's pretty much a given.

Anything that comes ognore it.

Brian: oh thank yomilywhat you feel like you get back from thee here?

Brian: that's what we're trying to put out there, yes.

My wife and i own the business and we've developed a bunch of team oriented family technicians that are truly interested to help, your daughter for one, but everybody else that that comes into the shop here.

To get a fair price and a solid repair.

We are a national business, but we are locally owned so we try and keep it that way.

Mandy williamson: thank you so much, brian, for those awesome tidbits.

Brian: my pleasure.

Mandy williamson: and of course, if you would like to get more information, you can always hit us up at wtvq.com.

And as always moms, we'll see you on the next mom to mom.

Abc 36's christy bollinger tells us how contact tracing works and why it's so important.

Exec.

Advisor, cabinet for health and family services l3: coronavirus outbreak white how contact tracing works l3 christy: coronavirus outbreak white l3: coronavirus outbreak white how contact tracing works when someone tests positive for an infectious disease, like covid..

Skyrizi may increase your risk of infections and lower your ability to fight them.
