Later the official twitter for the ole miss football team released a statement that pushes against police brutality and for change.

Oxford police chief jeff mccutchen released a statment saying no permit was requested for the event and the police department was unaware of the protest.

He says it was the reason his officers directed the players back to campus during the march.
