Rick and Angela recap the week's high school football action.

Welcome to news 12 overtime.

I'm rick nyman.

And i'm angela moryan.

It was a slim night for high school football friday since so many schools moved their games to thursday.

However, brainerd and howard kept their rivalry going last night.

The panthers won only one game last season; however, they've already matched that victory total this year after knocking off hixson last week in their opener.

Now brainerd would love to knock off their cross-town rivals.

Brainerd coach tyrus ward sporting the polo instead of the sleeveless hoodie this year.

Maybe that's the secret to the panthers success so far!!

=== brainerd taking back control of this rivalry.

Look at this.

Quarterback xiyeer lattimore airs it out on fourth down.

Receiver diamond bates at the end of the rainbow.

Pat no good, 6-0 panthers.

=== howard trying to respond.

Bad snap, then bad ball protection.

Whoops.

Howard quarterback jacobi dixon fumbles.

Brainerd ball.

=== panthers driving.

This one was pass all the way.

Lattimore to montez deloney.

27-yard touchdown.

=== panthers get the missed extra point back here.

2-point conversion good.

14-0 brainerd.

=== next howard possession, deorean elder looses the ball... collected by brainerd's donivon thomas.

=== this feels like deja vu... lattimore throws it up to an open der'quantis wynn.

Refs call him down just shy... still good for 44 yard pick up.

=== jaylin dupree finishes the job.

22-0 brainerd.

=== panthers score again, then with seconds left --- lattimore heaves it for the touchdown -- however, it's howard's jacobi dixon who gets the pick.

=== pretty much the only bright spot for the hustlin tigers tonight.

Brainerd wins 30-13.

Tyner kicked off their season friday with a short trip to central.

The ram train has been running full throttle against the purple pounders over the last couple of seasons.

The last two games?

Tyner outscored central 101 to 10.

While the rams are breaking in a new quarterback this season, they return one of the area's best running backs in senior jeremiah sawyer.

He showed out this week.

They moved the kickoff time up one hour to avoid bad weather.

Threatening skies lingered, but the game stayed dry.

Tyner up 14-6 in the second quarter, but rams coach wayne turner is old school like nick saban.

He's not going to smile.

Rams quarterback amarion mcclain rolls and hits dre ridley, who makes sure he secures the catch for the touchdown.

It's 21-6.

Surely we'll get a smile from turner for a touchdown.

Nope.

But we do get a hand-shake.

Baby steps for turner.

His team maintained that 21-6 lead at the half.

Rams got the ball to start the third and they sweep it to jeremiah sawyer.

One good stiff-arm, and he's in for the touchdown.

It's now 28-6.

Tyner then changes it up.

Instead of pitching it to sawyer, they hand it to him.

Results are the same as sawyer romps in for another touchdown.

It's 35-6.

Central shows signs of life to start the fourth quarter.

Evan schwarzl hangs it high, and tyi mosley the catch and spin to the one.

He muscled up to hang on to that one.

Purple pounders then do some pounding on the goal line.

Michael watson the easy score.

That made it 35-12.

Next tyner series.

Reverse to sawyer.

It's just rip and run.

Size and speed is a great combo for a running back.

Sawyer goes 80 yards.

He ran for over a buck-50, and he had a 90-yard kick return for a t-d as well.

Five touchdowns on the night for sawyer as tyner wins 42-18.

Meigs 38 greenback 0 rhea 49 jefferson county 24 mccallie hasn't enjoyed much of a fall camp.

The blue tornado had to shut down practice for two weeks in august after a covid out-break on the team.

The reigning state champs returned to practice on monday to start cramming for tonight's season opener against knox webb.

With the way mccallie played tonight, maybe they should take more time off from practice.

Early on the give to b-j harris.

The missouri commit bounces it to the outside, and he picks up a first down before he's knocked out of bounds.

Mccallie fans were pleased.

On the goal line, quick give to harris right up the gut.

That's a mccallie touchdown.

Harris carried the ball only ten times tonight, but three of his carries went for touchdowns.

Harris had 126-yards on the night.

Blue tornado ran for 314-yards in winning big 55-0.

Sale creek 26 jackson co 44 georgia force christian 12 copper basin 14 not too many rib cracking hits this week -- however, fans did see a few jaw dropping sacks over at red bank thursday night.

And who else would be at the center of those plays but one of chattanooga's most sought after prospects, cam bell.

Bell brings down ooltewah quarterback fisher perry.

Might not be a rib wrecker.

But it's a butt bruiser.

Wow.

The power behind bell.

More than 30 division i offers already for the senior.

Red bank won 31-7 it was touchdown thursday night this week.

Nine!!

Tennessee valley games moving up a day to avoid the potential severe weather.

Only thing was, there was lightning thursday too.... who came out on top after some weather delays?

We'll show you, when we get back.
