Lane county firefighters helping out with devestatiing wildfires in california are reporting significant progress in the last couple days.

As kezi 9 news reporter jacob roberts reports -- the team is gearing up to return home later this week.

:00 jacob roberts,?the lane county task force left here from goshen nine days ago headed for california.

And now there are around 20 crew members helping battle the state dangerous wildfire?

The lane county task force is one of five teams from oregon in california.

They are stationed at the l-n-u complex fire, which has burned more than 370-thousand acres across five counties in california wine country.

Officials report significant progress containing the fire on friday, with that progress holding overnight into the weekend.

The lnu complex fire is just over 40 percent contained & and oregon state fire marshals office spoke to us from napa to explain how crews are helping hold those numbers steady.

:41 claire mcgrew/ assistant chief deputy, oregon state fire marshal?they are put to work.

They do all sorts of things from back burning to mop up to patrol to any activity that that local area would require to make sure the fire is put out and continued to be kept ou?

Officials report some residents are being allowed to return to burned out areas?but whether they have a home to return to is another question.

The oregon crews have their last day of work on wednesday, and can return home after that.

But it still too early to say whether they will be called out again this summer.
