Expresses concern for difficulties this fall

High school athletic association the green light for lower and moderate risk sports to begin on september 21.

As optimistic as this decision is, local high school principals have expressed their apprehension... and rightfully so.

-- the governor added that the guidance is not a mandate.

The decision to resume sports this fall is up to the local school districts.

-- on a board meeting conference call last week, richfield springs middle and high school prinicpal lee supensky commented on the challenges at hand.

Lee supensky: it's like nothing you've ever seen from what they're doing right now in terms of guidelines its things like two people can't touch the same ball.

Its going to be very difficult to plan practices in a traditional way.

Not that they can't do thing or have a quality practice, its just going to be a little challenging because you still need to keep students separated and apart far enough according to guidelines and they can't touch the same equipment one after another without at least cleaning it first so that makes some challenges.

The n-y-s-p-h-s-a-a covid task force will meet again tomorrow to discuss and review state guidance.

Higher risk sports such as football, volleyball, basktball and ice hockey can begin team pactices on september 21 but cannot resume play against other teams. this restriction is in place until (at least( october 19.
