US kids play scavenger hunt with their military dad's return as the prize

A mum in Fleming Island, Florida set up a scavenger hunt for her three daughters and the prize was their dad's return from military deployment.

The scavenger hunt consisted of several riddles and clues which took the girls across the house before it was revealed that their dad had returned.

The filmer said: "My husband David is an active duty Navy pilot, he left October 1 on his 7th deployment that was supposed to be six months.

"When COVID-19 became a pandemic his deployment was extended, school was cancelled, the soccer season was cancelled, we were in isolation and the climate of the world was in general pretty negative.

"David's squadron was extended numerous times so much so that my daughters quit asking when daddy was coming home.

"When we finally got a solid return date I decided to try to make his homecoming extra special the girls had handled everything so well I wanted to make it as fun for them as possible.

"I created the scavenger hunt and told them it was simply something fun to celebrate the school year ending.

They were ecstatic to find their daddy at the end after being away for 248 days." This video was filmed on June 4.
