Court documents name jaelynn billups as the person responsible for the death of joshua ungersma.

Billups faces preliminary charges of murder and robbery.

The affidavit says lafayette police arrived at the scene at hart and 16th streets and found two people laying on the ground.

A third person, later identified as billups, was seen hovering over one of the victims. police ordered her to show her hands and she threw a handgun onto the sidewalk.

A witness named in the affidavit says he saw billups and one of the victims attempt to rob ungersma.

The witness says he saw billups shoot ungersma.

The deputy coroner says the preliminary autopsy shows both victims died of at least one gunshot wound.

She couldn't say how many gunshot wounds due to the investigation.

The manner of death has been ruled a homicide.

And they are still waiting on toxicology reports to make the autopsy final.

While she did go before magistrate dan moore this afternoon, she has not been formally charged yet.

The state has until tuesday the 8th at 2pm to file formal charges.

They get an extra day since monday is labor day.

Billups is being held at the tippecanoe county jail without bond.
