Time this fire season pg&e shutting off power because of high fire danger.

Right now thousands of customers in our area have no power.

Action news nows vanessa romo is live in paradise to see how the school district is handling it.

The best they can& as of now, school is out for all pusd schools and possibly tomorrow due to these power outages& theres two impacts because of it& one is the schools.

We have power here at the high school but not at our other schools& so staff cant come and work on site so that limits the ability for teachers and staff to get their program out there for the students& and the other is the students may not have access.

Pusd superintendent tom taylor says although some students relocated after the camp fire& a majority of the district's students still live on the ridge.

And now with no powerãthere's no internet and that means no classes.

It gotta be frustrating they got a certain timeline that they have to keep on track and its hard anyways, plus our teachers have worked so hard to make it the best kind of school year that they could for our students.

Sheila craft says this is just one more day students and staff have to make up.

Taylor says the district plans to install generators at its schools to hopefully prevent more off days.

But that doesn't help with the distance learning phase because the students still cant access the internet or they don't have the power to run their chrome books or computer.

Taylor says the 6 million dollar grant will go toward schools consistently being impacted by power shutoff and snow days& like pine ridge and cedar wood.

Craft a mother of four - says she is in the process of buying her own generator & it doesn't seem like we are going to be getting away from these ps days in the near future& so just to have & i mean you don't want to lose hundreds of dollars of food with a family of 6& everyone's going through it& taylor says if they don't have power by 7 a-m tomorrow, there will be no school.

Live in pradise, vanessa romo action news now coverage you can count on superintendent taylor says they are anticipating power to be turned back on by wednesday.
