COVID-19 Cluster Confirmed at Grant Street Station
A West Lafayette apartment complex is home to a small number of COVID-19 cases.

To a cluster of covid-19 cases.

As a result, all of the common areas in the building have been closed.

News 18's joe paul has been gathering details about the situation.

He joins us live to tell us what the owner and health department have to say.

There's a sign posted at the entrance of grant street station near purdue university's campus.

It says that all common areas are closed.

Those include the building's shared pool and gym.

And it's not clear when ll reopen.

Khala hochstedler with the health department described the number of cases as a small cluster.

But she couldn't confirm the exact number of positive cases within the complex.

She says the owner, granite student living, is being cooperative.

But it's unclear what is being done to quarantine residents with the virus.

Highly touched areas and common spaces are being disinfected frequently and hand sanitizer dispensers have been installed.

Granite ceo brent (goot-wine) gutwein says he is following the guidance of the health department.

When they stipulate something, we comply and we do it as quickly as possible.

We don't want to delay.

It's very important to be timely and compliant, so we are just following their lead.

Hochstedler says that she's seen similar situations at other apartment complexes in lafayette and west lafayette.

She declined to release any names, but says the health department has worked with less than five other buildings.

I'm told about 280 people live in this builoliva willman says s as mh as possible.

But gutwein says he's not aware of thath to control resident behavior.
