An industry important to northeast indiana is seeing significant sales increases since the start of the pandemic in march.r-v companies saying they're seeing way higher sales this summer..and say covid 19 is part of the reason.fox 55's chris mullooly is live in fort wayne.chris..

Why is covid 19 the reason for the increase?

Hunter... there's a few guesses by managers.one is... people don't want to go to airports or hotels right now.

They don't trust them.the other is... they don't want to go to big cities... and rather travel the countryside.either way... r-v companies in northeast indiana are having trouple keeping ?nats?the drive thru job fair held in decatur looks slow now...but doug hormann says an hour before this..

Cars were lining up.we were surprised we had people lined up at 130 we had 50 ppl in firs thourall applying for jobs with rev group and goldshield fiberglass...two companies in the transportation industry that like many others in indiana are seeing big increases in r-v demandwe're trying to hire about 100 people assembles labors painters service techs customer service we're looking for a broad varietythe group teamed up with workforce one to get the word out.they're a great resource to have and can share the informationlooking to hire...as unemployment rates continue to remain high... mariea moreland says the opportunity to help others is a great sight.some have been unemployed for a hile and are lookingfor trailers and mobile homes... sales fluctuate..

It can depend on the month the season... or the demand.this year... demand is skyrocketing.when we came back its crazy business inventory low cause manufactrers having hard time getting product out but we definitely hit the boom todd brown with sullivan r-v sees it first hand.the rv rentals association says 20 percent of those surveyed are more interested in r-vs.brown says he's seen a huge spike in mobile homes bought...some downsizing... others looking to escapeobv safer when you can stay in your own dome you can stay in your own area own food you dont have to be in a social herd all the timehe says sales have gone up at least 30 percent from last year..and has no doubt covid 19 is a major reason for it.

With the trailer sales its definitely affected that the question now... is this going to end... will we see these demands decrease...brown and hormann says thats the million dollar question.no one really knows because... while brown says last year was profitable... they have no idea what the future holds.reporting live ... chris mullooly... fox 55 news.
