Continues... one day after attorney general daniel cameron announces only one of three officers involved in the shooting death of breonna taylor will be criminally charged... but not for her death.

More as we begin our top story coverage of the breonna taylor case.

Fired officer brett hankison was charged with three counts of first degree "wanton endangerment"... not for firing the shots that killed breonna... but for recklessly firing shots outside the apartment that went into a neighboring apartment.... where a man, pregnant woman and child were inside.

Hankison was booked into the shelby county detention center yesterday afternoon and released a few hours later after posting his $15- thousand bail.

John mattingly.jpg <none> <none> the attorney general says the two other officers involved in the botched march 13th raid... detective myles cosgrove... and sergeant john mattingly were justified in firing their weapons because they were fired upon first by taylor's boyfriend... kenneth walker.

The protests got violent.... and two louisville police officers were shot.

One was hit in the abdomen and underwent surgery.... the other suffered a gunshot wound to his hip.

Both are expected to recover... according to the police chief.

Police did arrest a suspect in the shooting.

They also arrested more than 120 protesters.

Today... louisville mayor greg fischer spoke out.... saying he knows many are hurting... but urged people to keep the protests peaceful.

In contrast to louisville, protests in lexington remained peaceful last night with no police presence and no arrests.

L3 veronica:live white most of the people i'm talking to down here didn't protest last night and they don't plan to again tonight in just a couple hours...but they say that doesn't mean they don't feel the same kind of pain so many kentuckians are feeling after only one officer was indicted in the breonna taylor case.

A couple businesses boarded up and most city offices closed early to prepare for protests, but people voicing their opinions downtown were peaceful and organized.

That made several people i spoke to proud.

Cameron says he has no plans to release the report... or any details about the grand jury itself.... raising questions about the racial makeup of the group.

The attorney for breonna taylor's family says are demanding the report be made public.

In an interview with c-n-n earlier today... beshear said he suggested to the a-g that the information be posted online.

But then we don't have that vacuum.

That vacuum where sometimes there is a lack of information and our frustrations and emotions can fill it up.

Everybody deserves the facts and to see the evidence themselves.
