Town of Paradise receives massive grants to repair roadways

But as action news now reporter dani masten shows us, paradise has received great news in the form of a massive federal grant.

Todayãthe town of paradise discussed their long-term plans with moving forward in roadway repairs after the 2018 campfire burned through this town.

I spoke with town manager kevin phillips who shares why this is a necessary step in the towns recovery.

One of the biggest requirements you know is to keep the roads up and maintained so for us to have to go through and repair all of the roads in town, it would be impossible.

Due to ongoing recovery efforts like debris removal and hazard tree removal, the towns roadways now have severe damage.

But the town of paradise was granted 77.3 million dollars in additional funding from the federal highway administration and fema.

It would just be a huge amount of money and if anyone has driven through paradise recently, they would see that there is potholes and there is different damages that have occurred that need to be repaired and so with this funding coming in and this large amount of funding we are going to be able to repair these roads."

Vo paradise is receiving an additional 2 and a half million dollars from the north valley community foundation to help repair the roads in town.

Dani ll and phillips tells me that the town will start its repairs on roads like these in 2023.

He says the reasoning for starting the repairs in a couple of years is due to pg and e getting ready to take powerlines and put them underground.

Therefore, the town has decided to wait until that project has been copmpleted.
