The panthers defeated castle... who had won 26 straight sectional titles.

The panthers then defeated jasper for the crown.

I had a chance to catch up with the team and talk about their historic victory.

((panthers hunting for a regional crown))*nat pop not only did reitz defeat castle and jasper at sectionals this past weekend, the panthers also won the first sectional championship in school history.

That was almost the bigger of the ((gene)) games of the two.

The championship, i equate it back to the miracle on ice.

Everybody remembers the game against the russians ((panthers hunting for a regional crown)) and i kind of equate castle to that as far as the strength that they'd had, the strong hold that they've had 26 years in a row.

Coach watson does a great job with them and just to beat them, the elation, the tears of joy, the girls were just going crazy.

Definitely the sweetest feeling ever.

I had ((lily )) so many players from other schools texting me saying thank you for beating them.

Everybody was just so happy to finally see somebody take them down ((panthers hunting for a regional crown)) and i'm glad i could say that it was us.

If you as the panthers, they'll tell you their sectional championship win is even more special to them, given that there was uncertainty as to whether or not there would be a fall sports season.

((catie )) we had senior night like the third match we played so, going all the way to sectionals, that's insane.

((panthers hunting for a regional crown)) especially like playing every game is your last, it's so surreal, it's amazing.

It's just makes us cherish every moment even more, like every single practice every single game we took so seriously and it was so dear to our hearts because we never knew when we would be done.

In head coach gene cobbs' second season, the panthers believe they have built something that produce consistent success.

The group of seniors that i have and some of the other girls that are really leader like kids really have taken and helped me to mold this group that we have this year.

They bought into the program and they we're buying what i was selling.

Lily- i can definitely say this team had chemistry from the day cobbs walked in the door.

The team that we were my first two years and the team that we are now are totally different things.

We all just gel and get along so well together especially with cobbs along.

He is the best, we love him.

Having finally gotten over the hump at sectionals, the panthers are ready to run wild through the rest of the postseason.

Catie- i'd like to win state.

I mean god knows we've never won a sectional so, we might as well just go to state right now.

Lily-i'm completely and so ready for us to go to state that is my goal for the end of the season for us to at least make it there if not win.*nat pop andy that's all the action i have for you tonight in sports... stick around..
