Escalated fight leads to the death of a man in Red Bluff, neighbors react

Crime scene tape is something this neighborhood is all too familiar with recently.

A person is in custody after a body was found in red bluff& just steps away from where an officer involved shooting happened yesterday.

The tehama county sheriffs says one person is in custody after those involved got into a fight that escalated& and resulted in the death of one man.

The tehama county sheriffs office says they arrived early wednesday morning to find the body on byron ave.

"it's kind of nerve-racking."

"found out from somebody else that it was a dead body in my field right here, i live right here!"

Neighbors here told me they woke up to first responders just outside their windows.

"it sounded like an ambulance was really close came outside seen the ambulance and fire truck pull to the end of the street then all of a sudden i'd seen about 15 cop cars pull up, sheriff cars, then i'd see coroners and ambulance, and everything left, i saw them over there for a couple of hours, they had it all taped off."

And crime scene tape is something this neighborhood is all too familiar with recently.

"yesterday somebody walked through my friend's yard with a gun and got in a shootout with police down the street, and it's just getting crazy."

"it freaks me out a lot actually, i got little kids and it happened right by the bus stop.

It's getting out of hand."

"my granddaughters come and visit me a lot.

They're five and seven.

We go for walks through that field sometimes, and i'm just glad it wasn't me with them that found it.

That would've been devastating on them."

This is a very familiar stretch of road for us alan.

As those neighbors touched on& just yesterday, a man was shot by officers just around the corner, after pointing what police thought was a firearm at officers that later turned out to be an air rifle designed to look like a firearm.
