‘Oppression increased in J&K after we decided to contest DDC polls’: PDP chief

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said elections are no solution to the Kashmir problem and called for a dialogue between India and Pakistan to address the issue. She also accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of “murdering the democracy” in the name of District Development Council (DDC) polls as alliance candidates were being confined to homes while others enjoyed full freedom to campaign. The PDP chief said the alliance candidates were not allowed to freely campaign for the DDC polls. "Our people do not have security. They have been confined to their homes and not allowed to run poll campaign while BJP candidates are freely roaming around. This is not done? Will this country run on the BJP's agenda?"They tell us not to talk about Article 370. BJP ministers visit Kashmir and nine out of 10 times, they talk about the revocation of Article 370. I fail to understand that when they are confident that Artilce 370 is gone and will not be restored, why do they get rattled so much when I speak about it," she said. ‘Rahul Gandhi was on picnic during Bihar polls’: RJD leader’s stinging attack

RJD leader Shivanand Tiwari has lashed out at the Congress over the Bihar assembly election verdict. The senior RJD leader said that many believe the Congress bogged down the Mahagathbandhan in the state polls. Tiwari said that while the Congress had put up candidates in 70 seats the party did not even hold enough rallies in the state. He said that while Rahul Gandhi visited for 3 days, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra did not make an appearance for campaigning. Tiwari further alleged that this is not something that has happened in Bihar alone and said that while the Congress is always interested in fighting many seats, it is not interested in winning. Tiwari said that while the political battle was underway in Bihar, Rahul Gandhi was on a picnic at his sister’s house in Shimla. Congress had ended with 19 seats in the state severely denting the chances of the Mahagathbandhan, despite the RJD ending up as the single largest party in the state. Congress restricted Mahagathbandhan from winning Bihar: RJD's Shivanand Tiwari

Rashtriya Janata Dal's (RJD) veteran leader Shivanand Tiwari has come down heavily on alliance partner Congress for Mahagathbandhan's narrow loss in Bihar assembly elections. Tiwari said the Congress became a shackle for the grand alliance in the northern state due to which the RJD-led front couldn't secure the majority mark in the polls. Criticising Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for not actively participating in the campaign trail, Tiwari said Rahul came to Bihar only for three days, and Priyanka didn't even campaign for the grand alliance. "Congress became a shackle for Mahagathbandhan. They had fielded 70 candidates but didn't hold even 70 public rallies. Rahul Gandhi came for 3 days, Priyanka didn't come. Those who were unfamiliar with Bihar came here. This is not right," Tiwari told ANI. Advising the grand old party to course correct, Tiwari said the Congress's poor performance in Bihar was not a single case, and that the Sonia Gandhi-led party lays emphasis on contesting on maximum seats in other states too, but performs below par.
