National Signing Day - Northeast Mississippi

Many student-athletes across the state signed letters of intent to continue their athletic journeys today.

For pretty much every sport except for football.

It's a huge day for athletes, their families, their friends and their teammates to see all that hard work come to fruition.

Many area athletes signed letters of intent today, let's get after it.

In belmont, girls basketball standout macie walker became only the second player in school history to commit to a division one girls basketball program.

Walker signed her letter of intent to play at the university of north alabama.

The three-time all state basketball player was excited to the finally make her commitment to u-n-a offical and can focusing her attention on bringing a state title back to belmont.

I mean i always wanted to go there, they offered me when i was 15 years old and i'm just really happy i don't have to answer phone calls anymore and i'm ready to win a state championship i'm really hoping this season works out like we want it to and we can win.

In tupelo, the golden wave had a trio of baseball players sign letters of intent today.

Easton hood will take his talents down route 22 to itawamba community college.

Tripp hardin will head the other way, northwest that is, to be a ranger.

And hunter elliott will play for mike bianco and the ole miss rebels under the bright lights of swayze field, which for elliott is where he always wanted to be.

Since i was as young as i can remember it was a dream school, dream opportunity, love the coaching staff love everything about it.

In houston, mississippi, softball stud paige kilgore sealed the deal with the golden eagles of southern miss.

As a junior kilgore was named the 2020 gatorade player of the year, but of course her season was cut short in 2020, which made today just a little more special.

I think it did just because you never take the game for granted anymore, i mean, you realize the game can be gone in the split of a second, and you don't get to do too much any more so being able to sign with my teammates and my family it was special.

In west point, at oak hill academy, cohen trolio committed to louisiana state university on a golf scholarship.

Trolio said he's been committed to the tigers for a couple years now but he couldn't have done it without his community.

That ."

The people around west point and oak hill academy have been extremely supportive throughout this whole entire process and i'm really appreciative of that.

And our final stop in mantachie, lynsey barber, the winningest pitcher in mustang fast pitch history signed with the northeast tigers.

Barber verbally committed to nemcc when she was an 8th grader.

Congratulations to all the athletes who are furthering their athletic careers.
