Panic buying during holidays and the pandemic.

As we just mentioned, thanksgiving is a few days away-- and if you still need to get your holiday food shopping done - grocery chains saying they're working hard to make sure stores have everything you need.

Waay 31's ashley carter spoke with the kroger spokeswoman about how stores are making sure the shelves stay stocked ahead of the holidays and a coronavirus spike!

She told me the stores usually see a lot more customers ahead of the thanksgiving holiday.

This year because of the pandemic.

She said keeping food staples in stock during the busy holiday season is a new challenge they're doing their best to manage!

The spokeswoman for kroger melissa eads told me stores have been keeping a close watch on their inventory to make sure manufacturers continue to bring in items that are selling fast she says right now stores haven't had any issues with holiday food items selling out .... but since march it's been a struggle to keep cleaning supplies in stock she says since the pandemic began .... manufacturers have been working to make sure shelves don't go empty again like we saw at the beginning of the pandemic.

She said they'll continue to monitor their supply through the holiday season - so you shouldn't feel the need to panic buy.

"just buy what you need for that day and we don't want to put anybody into panic mode again and yes we feel good about where we are."

Right now, kroger stores don't have a limit on their products and eads hopes they won't have to reissue one.

Other major stores are placing limits on some necessities.

Walmart says toilet paper and cleaning supplies are most in demand.
