Chico Meals on Wheels will be delivering Thanksgiving meals to hundreds of people on Thanksgiving day.

Eric moxon/board president and volunteer for chico meals on wheels "two years ago we were delievering 80 meals a day and because of the campfire and because of covid and because we deliever meals to our most vulnerable population, the elderly, it has exploded."

Moxon says the pandemic has presented its obstacles.

That's the biggest thing is we don't want to get our clients sick.

We have masks for the drivers, hand santizer and it times, those were very tough to get."

Dani masten i spoke to the couple living in this home right here who gets meals on wheels delivered to their home every week and they tell me how valuable this service is for them.

Sharron mathans/relies on meals on wheels "it's just the most wonderful thing.

I'm 90 and he soon will be and we just don't cook anymore."

Sharron mathans and ed ames tell me the service has helped reduce their risk of getting covid sharron mathans/relies on meals on wheels "it's really been a life saver for us.

It has kept us in our own home."

Mathans and ames - have special plans for their thanksgiving meal.

We normally eat at the kitchen table but tomorrow we are going to set up our dining room table with a white linen and candles and silverware but it adds some flavor to it."
