Workers at The Torres Shelter says they saw an increase in donations from the community this Thanksgiving.

Safely amid the pandemic.

Workers here at the torres shelter tell me although they are facing new challenges this year because of the pandemic, the community support remains the same.

Nats angela keller/it was pretty awesome seeing the donations come in, and they weren't stopping and they still aren't stopping.

This is angela keller's first time spending thanksgiving at the torres shelter.

Angela keller: it's wonderful to see the community coming together and showing a lot of help.

Janine gomez unfortunately we couldn't have our two fundraising galas, we had to limit the amount of volunteers coming in due to covid and it's been wonderful for the community to come together, it's been amazing the amount of people that have been donating.

I was like whoa this kitchen is filled.

Janine gomez: the guests are happy and the look on people's faces when i come in and bring cartloads of donations, it's going to be a great thanksgiving for everyone.

Angela keller: love on your family as much as you can and take it one day at a time.

The torres shelter also hosted bingo and fun activities with prizes.

Right now they have about 100 guests.

They have socially distanced their dining areas and are serving people in smaller groups.
