The Allen County Health Department forced Mitchell's Bar and Grill to shut down Wednesday.

The restaurant was found in violation of Governor Holcomb's executive order, designed to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Several patrons say it’s about time.

Tonight -- the allen county health department is forcing a fort wayne restaurant to shut down.

Fox 55 spoke with several patrons about the closing who say it's about time.jazmin reyes was recently there.

Reyes "as soon as i got there, it was packed.

None of the waitresses were wearing masks, none of the customers were wearing masks.

Courtney wallace says when someone complained, they said: wallace "'oh, we're not going to do that, you can just leave.'"an attorney for mitchell's released a statement today it says the bar was having a private christmas party wednesday night when state and county inspectors investigating the complaints decided to close the restaurant.

The attorney says they've attempted to closely adhere to both the governor's executive order and the county's increased restrictions.

But customers we talked to say the restaurant openly flaunted the law.

Wims "really they just care about their business and the money coming in.

They'll sacrifice anybody...anybody."alle wims and others tell us they ignored capacity limits didn't space apart tables and stayed open past midnight.

Wims "all that goes into a snowball effect and that is his establishment being shut down.

And it should."

Reyes says after seeing the lack of social distancing and other conditions she will never eat there again.

Reyes "i'm glad it shut down because i wasn't going to even go back anyways."stand up: the allen county health department wants to continue to encourage bar and restaurant goers to wear masks and socially distance when going out.
