Here are a few local events for you to get out and enjoy!

It, a w activities to enjoy.

News 18's cody melin joins us this morning.

Cody, what's on the weekend planner for folks?

Good morning, marvin.

This week has been a crazy one, i know especially for us with that first snowfall earlier this week.

I think that means it's a perfect time to cozy up and enjoy some local events.

The annual purdue christmas show is making an online approach this year, and it's all kicking off this weekend.

The festive event is set to hold its first virtual production.

The show will include fifthteen musical numbers around purdue's campus.

More than 300 performers came together to make this possible.

The music and visuals had to be prerecorded due to covid concerns.

The video is free to watch starting saturday and will be available through january 1st.

I'll have a link on where you can watch it on our website wlfi dot com.

And if you feel like braving the crisp, winter air, dontown lafayette businesses are hosting a new holiday event.

It's called "christmas shop hop."

The event is also going on saturday from 11 to 3 p-m.

Dozens of business owners will be decorating their door fronts.

The hope is that people will get out and about, socially distant of course, and enjowhat the downtown area has to offer.

We have board games, and we have some dog stuff, we have new businesses that have popped up that i didn't know about so when people pick up a map, wherever you start, you may be surprised at what we offer downtown now.

These business owners have also partnered with food finders food bank.

Several stores will have bins for people to drop off canned, and boxed foods, to be donated.

As always, safety is more important than going out and about.

So a weekend at home with a mug of hot cocoa is perfectly acceptable.

If you do go out, take that mask with you.

Have a safe weekend.
