After FBI warnings of armed protests at all 50 state capitols, Gov.

Gavin Newsom signed an order Thursday, deploying 1,000 National Guardsmen to assist CHP.

A six-foot fence now runs around the entire building.

Nearly four hours.

Tonight -- officers are on the ground at the state's capitol -- patrolling the area and standing by following warnings of possible violence.

New at 11 -- reporter esteban reynoso is in sacramento tonight to see what is being done after the governor ordered the national guard help.

In an order signed by governor newsom thursday-- a six- foot high fence now surrounds the state capitol, all in preparation for anything with president-elect joe biden's inauguration just days away.

Police cars at every entrance, and officers patrolling the capitol grounds.

"we're taking important steps here in california in light of what we saw at our nation's capitol just last week."

The move comes after the fbi warned of possible armed protesters at all 50 state captols.

"it seems a little bit wild to me that there may be some protesting tomorrow about this."

The c-h-p denied a permit for a pro- trump rally at the capitol on friday, citing covid-19 protocols after more than 3,000 people were expected to attend.

"it's definitely alarming seeing the fence, but i think they're taking the proper precautions because of what we witnessed last week at the national capitol.

I think it's great that they're doing it."

On top of the fence and c-h-p officers, newsom ordered an initial deployment of 1,000 national guardsmen.

"there will be no tolerance for violence.

That's why today, along with the chp and office of emergency services i've activated the california national guard to protect critical state infrastructure in and around the state capitol."

C-h-p willows confirmed with action news now they have sent officers here to the state capitol to assist in patrol.

In sacramento, esteban reynoso for action news now.

The f-b-i's sacramento field office released a statement saying it is working with other federal, state and local agencies.

It has set up a command post.
