This time around, Twitter has decided not to transfer the previous administration's followers to Joe Biden.

Instead, those who follow “relevant Biden and Harris accounts” will be notified that they can follow @POTUS and @VP.

In addition, @PresElectBiden has become @POTUS, @FLOTUSBiden has become @FLOTUS and @SenKamalaHarris has become @VP.

A new account for Harris' husband, @SecondGentleman, is also live.

Trump's official government account will be archived as @POTUS45.

Twitter maintains that the new protocol gives users the choice to follow the new accounts.

President Biden's digital director, Rob Flaherty, says the follower reset is "Absolutely, profoundly insufficient.".

Facebook and Instagram intend to transfer all 11 million White House followers to the Biden administration.
