A coalition of 24 civil liberty, human rights and press freedom groups have signed an open letter urging the new head of the US Justice Department to forgo the appeal of extradition and drop the underlying charges against the Wikileaks founder Assange on Monday.
But nearly a day after the public appeal by the liberty groups, the spokesperson for the US justice department has said that the administration continues to seek extradition.
