Kerala polls: PC Thomas quits NDA, to join UDF

PC Thomas, who heads Kerala Congress (Thomas), on March 17 announced that the party has quit the NDA (National Democratic Alliance), saying that they have not been given a single seat in the upcoming assembly elections.

Thomas also said that his party will be joining the UDF (United Democratic Front).

He also said, "We had been working with NDA for years but when the elections came they denied us to give even a single seat for contesting elections.

NDA has requested me to contest from Pala (a constituency in Kerala) and that could end up in victory but my personal difficulties not allowing me to contest for election but they denied other seats which we are requesting.

They have better candidates than me.

This is a big blow to the party.

The party could not sustain without contesting election." "Today I will be participating in UDF election convention led by PJ Joseph in Kaduthuruthy.

He has requested me to be the second person as Deputy Chairman and there will be one Kerala Congress, all others are having additional name.

Monce Joseph will be the vice-chairman," he further said.

Kerala Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 6 and results will be declared on May 2.
