So our city parks can remain clean.

These three new maintence workers have been designated to be chico's community clean up team.

The so-called 'clean team' was approved by the chico city council back in february& the team consists of two maintence workers who are led by a senior maintence worker.

Parks operation and maintence division director erik gustofson tells action news now he is really happy with the progress this team has made so far.

It's surpirsing the amount of trash that we find in our open space greenways and certain park areas.

It is sad and it is unfortunate and we are really excited that this crew is getting a handle on it and keeping those areas clean long-term.

The community clean team also assists with shopping cart retreival, graffitti removal, landscape efforts and vegetation management.

In feburary alone..

This crew cleaned up 213 cubic yards..

This month..

The crew has already cleaned up the equivelant to 45 tons of trash... live in chico - dani masten, action news now, coverage you can count on.
