Newswatch 12 midday."

Welcome back to newswatch 12 and let's meet our pet f e week!

Today we have two for you.

First up is jeffrey!

This handsome 4-year-old pitt bull terrier is a high energy, friendly boy.

He's a load of fun, and enjoys the shelter's play group, but he can be a bit of a handfull for dogs who prefer a gentler play style.

He's about 60 pounds - but he wants to be heard as much as he's seen.

He can be a bit vocal and would be perfect for a pet parent who wants to know how their fur kid is feeling.

At four years old, he still has a lot to learn.

Jeffrey could benefit from obedience classes giving him a great way to bond with his human.

Please remember it's not his fault, things like walking on a leash don't necessarily come as easily to a doggy who didn't grow up doing it.

The volunteers who have worked with jeffrey describe him as a likable, goofy boy who loves to play and is very gentle when taking treats... which is arguably his favorite part of the day.

If you consider your home an active place and would love the addition of a playmate, please call to make an appointment to meet jeffrey... and introduce him to your 2 and 4 legged family members alike.

His adoption fee is $150, plus $25 for an annual dog license, if you live in jackson county.

For more information or to set up an appointment, please call the jackson county animal shelter at 541-774-6654.

Next up - we have king tut!

This sweet, friendly boy is a 7-year-old long haired kitty.

Since he is feline immunodeficiency virus positive, he must be an indoor cat only.

The streets were not kind to the king.

He came in with some battle wounds that required some of his beautiful mane to be shaved in order to be treated.

But not to worry, he's healing very well and his mane is growing back beautifully... i mean - he is a king afterall.

King tut is very loved by shelter volunteers because he is super sweet and loves gentle petting.

Although he is sharing whiskerville the shelter's free-roaming cat room -- with another f-i-v positive cat, we don't know how he will do with other non f-i-v cats.

So, it's best if he is the only king in his new castle.

F-i-v cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs.

The main source of transmission is from one cat to another through a deep bite during a fight.

With proper care, f-i-v positive cats live long and comfortable lives, like everyone else.

F-i-v positive cats are just like any other cat, and like every other cat you've ever known, king tut has his own unique personality.

Information on f-i-v is available at the shelter, for those of you who could have some questions.

For more information or to meet this sweet boy or other shelter kitties, please call the jackson county animal shelter at 541-774-6654.

The adoption fee for cats 6 months and older is $60.

And jackson county animal services wants to remind you that if you've lost an animal or if they have taken off on an unplanned adventure, don't forget to call the jackson county animal shelter.

If animal control has found your pet or someone called to have them picked up, the shelter is where they will always be taken.

And of course - they are always very happy to reunite our very talented escape artists with their families!
