Bengal: TMC worker stabbed to death in Keshpur; BJP worker dies in Nandigram

A TMC worker was allegedly stabbed to death in West Bengal's Paschim Medinipur.

Incident took place in the district's Keshpur area in the early hours of Thursday.

Police said Uttam Dolui was at a local club in Hariharpur when he was attacked.

Police added that around 10-15 people allegedly attacked Dolui with sharp weapons.

The 48-year-old TMC worker reportedly died on the way to a hospital in Midnapore.

Police said seven people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Dolui's family alleged that BJP 'goons' attacked him to create tension in the area.

BJP dismissed the allegations, saying they have no reason for resorting to violence.

Meanwhile, a BJP worker was found hanging at his home in Purba Medinipur's Nandigram.

Uday Dubey was found hanging at his home in Bhekutia area on Thursday morning.

Dubey's family claimed that he was under stress as he was receiving threats from TMC.

However, TMC denied charges and hit out at BJP for indulging in politics over a death.

Police said a case of unnatural death has been lodged and further probe is underway.

High-voltage Nandigram is under heavy security cover with Section 144 being clamped.

In Nandigram, CM Mamata Banerjee is taking on her former aide, Suvendu Adhikari.
