The Vanderburgh County Health Department has noticed a lack of Vaccine sign-ups from Ethnic Minorities.

Be vaccinated.... black nurses of evansville - hosting two covid-19 vaccine clinics this week.... the first one is today - at the greater saint james community rec and education center.... 44news reporter ella shemwell is live there - with more information on the clinics.... good afternoon... with more and more eligible for the vaccine-- the response from hoosiers wanting to receive it-- has been great.

But the vchd says there is a lack of minorities signing up for their shot.

"it means a lot to us to help he african american community, to know this is a safe procedure" the vanderburgh county health department has been working closely with the naacp and the black nurses of evansville through the month of march-- to find new locations to host vaccine clinics -- to ensure everyone who wants the opportunity to be immunized-- has easy access to it.

"if they dont have access to the hospitals, they can come here, we're in walking distance" one in attendance of wednesdays clinic-- archie thomas-- who says... "i was kinda leary of my decision, i think its a good thing and hopefully it will work out" but-- with his condition-- it was important to put the nerves aside... "diabetes, so i thought, it'd take precautionary measures" if you missed today's clinic-- there will be another opportunity on saturday.
