Shasta county youth football players getting weekly COVID-19 tests

Shasta County’s case rate increase of seven per 100,000 is causing football players at Foothill High School to get COVID tested weekly.

Weekly testing is now standard operating procedure for youth football players in shasta county.

I asked foothil high athletic administrator shawn anstine if one player tests positive would the whole team have to quarantine.

Take sot shawn anstine, athletic administrator for foothill high school "all the lineman aren't practicing together, all the backs aren't practicing together, all the receivers aren't practicing together, so if someone comes back positive and we have to quarantine some athletes we don't lose all our lineman or receivers so we can still play."

Anstine says they can always pull up kids from the lower levels to cover for varsity players if needed but he hopes tests results will be negative as they get ready for the final stretch of this already ll tag since foothill high school's covid testing is on tuesdays, the football team missed the mark to get tested before this week's games.
