Quite a bit of rain today, though nothing near the point where we were two years ago with historic flooding up and down the missouri river.

Much of the damage to the levee system is still being worked on <<two years ago, much of northwest missouri was underwater -- victimized by historic, once in a century flooding.

Some wondered if things would ever be able to return back to normal again.

Fast forward to today and repair work to the river levees is still ongoing -- but progress is being made.locals crediting governor mike parson for the work."he came, he listented to us and he put it into action.

He literally made it all happen for us."parson making a visit to northwest missouri on thursday to check on progress.this section of the levee in atchison county had 14 breaches alone.

But instead of just patching up the holes to the levee, they're moving the levee back, which has taken the work of local, state and federal authorities, including the army corps of engineers."when you set a levee back, you take in a bunch of land that was dry side of the levee and now is the water side of the levee.

You have to find a way to compensate those landowners and purchase it.

That is a big hurdle.""i understand the values of land being a farmer myself but i also know you sometimes have to do the better good to help people moving forward."it might not look like much yet, but those working on it say soon, the new levee will be able to protect people here for years to come."the corps and the contractors made unbelieveable progress through not even the easiest winter.

You could drive down there march 1st and say 'hey, this is the levee.'" <<scattered rain showers and drizzle are set to continue
