If passed by the Medford City Council, Rogue Retreat’s homeless campground will be adding a second location.

City of medford will consider doubling a local homeless campground.

Newswatch 12's adam schumes spoke with the operations manager at rogue retreat and joins us now with an update.

If the city council approves the measure- rogue retreat could essentially doubling.

Giving more people who are homeless and chance to get off the streets.

The new campground would be here right next to the livestock facility.

Its right across from rogue retreats current campground.

This new campground will help rogue retreat house 50 more people.

The current campground will have 75 sites.

The new campground will have pallet shelters that rogue retreat will be able to use the electricity.

The new camground will also have on site case managers to help those who are homeless get back on their feet.

So this is going to be able to support 50 more people, uh, potentially more depending on if they're couples or not.

So if they're a couple, they can come in as a couple, which will increase that number, um, past 50.

Um, and it'll open up more opportunity for people, um, as they progress forward.

Yeah.

The existing campground costs about $40,000 a month to operate.

Rogue retreat said the expanded campground would likely cost around 5o thousand per month.

If approved by the council,
