Better state outlook brings calls for bigger funding of Indiana's public schools

Indiana educators called Thursday for a bigger school funding boost to help improve the state’s lagging teacher pay, as new projections showed state tax collections are expected to bounce back stronger than expected from the pandemic recession.

Indiana's state collections are looking better than expected after the pandemic recession from last year.a tax revenue forecast shows collections going up more than four percent each of the next two years.this means about two billion dollars more for the new two-year state budget.

House leaders say this could mean more direct money towards school funding and other state programs.
