Miley Cyrus has decided to take a more proactive approach in reacting to DaBaby’s recent homophobic remarks.

.

The pop star took to Instagram on Wednesday to say that as a member of the “LGBTQIA+ community,” she values “love” and “acceptance.”.

She went on to address the “hate & anger” being directed at DaBaby, urging her fans to stay away from “cancel culture.” .

The internet can fuel a lot of hate & anger and is the nucleus of cancel culture … but I believe it can also be a place filled with education, conversation, communication & connection, Miley Cyrus, via Instagram.

Cyrus stressed that finding “forgiveness and compassion” is much more important than “cancel[ing] someone.” .

It’s easier to cancel someone than to find forgiveness and compassion in ourselves or take the time to change hearts and minds.., Miley Cyrus, via Instagram.

... There’s no more room for division if we want to keep seeing progress!

Knowledge is power!

I know I still have so much to learn, Miley Cyrus, via Instagram.

In the caption of her post, Cyrus urged DaBaby to “check [his] DMs” and have an open dialogue with her.

Would love to talk and see how we can learn from each other and help be part of making a more just and understanding future!, Miley Cyrus, via Instagram.

DaBaby issued a formal apology for his homophobic remarks on Monday.

In his statement, DaBaby thanked those who offered him “wisdom” instead of “demolish[ing]” him on social media.

.

I want to apologize to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made.

Again, I apologize for my misinformed comments about HIV/AIDS and I know education on this is important.
