Shares are mixed in Asia after the Bank of Japan hiked its benchmark interest rate for the first time in 17 years, ending a longstanding negative rate policy. The BOJ raised the overnight call rate to a range of 0 to 0.1%, up from minus 0.1%. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index rose 0.4% while Chinese shares fell. On Monday, the S&P 500 added 0.6% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.2%. The Nasdaq composite climbed 0.8%. Big technology stocks led the way. Treasury yields ticked higher ahead of an announcement by the Federal Reserve scheduled for Wednesday. The central bank will give its latest projections for where it sees interest rates heading this year.
