Arunachal writes to MHA, seeks NIA probe into ex-MLA killing

The Arunachal Pradesh government has requested the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate the assassination of former MLA Yumsem Matey. The decision aims to ensure a thorough investigation. Matey was kidnapped and shot dead by suspected NSCN cadres on the India-Myanmar border. The state home department forwarded the case to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for NIA's intervention. Protest rallies were held in Tirap, Changlang, Longding, and Itanagar, demanding peace and a fast-tracked investigation through NIA.
