Abbas urges for talks over unity gov't

(MENAFN) According to presidential representative Nabil Abu Rudeineh, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has proposed a new round of intra-national talks to explore the prospect of establishing a governing coalition. As per the spokesperson, Palestinian groups will "begin soon an intra-national discussion about the establishment of a unity government that will carry its obligations in the coming stage." The declaration came after Abbas signed a resolution postponing national elections in the Palestinian territories, sparking criticism from other groups. In a televised speech on Friday, Abbas declared that the 2021 general elections, scheduled for May 22, had been delayed till further note, emphasizing that the Palestinian leadership had agreed "to delay the elections."
