Struggle to find the means to provide a bed for all of their children.
That's why many organizations in henderson are teaming up on saturday to give those children a bed to call their own.
Katelyn perrett finds out how great the need is for a good night's sleep.
Katelyn says," it's a problem families face across the country but here in henderson the community is working together to take the initiative to help children one bed at a time."
Sauls says,"it's sad but it's a reality of life for some families unfortunatel y."
It's an unspoken challenge many families face.
Lauver says,"almost brings tears to your eyes when you think about that."
Many children spend their nights without a quality place to sleep.
Build a bed strives to provide a better life for kids by giving them a bed of their own with bedtime essentials.
Sauls says,"one family said we do as we can do.
Another family said that they had a 10 year old boy, a 4 year old girl, and a 3 year old little girl all sleeping in a toddler bed.
There was a family who has a pallet on the floor with a mattress that has springs that are popping out of it."
Those problems will no longer exist once 50 children receive a new place to stay.
Lauver says,"when i tell people about our build a bed project, they can't believe that we have that many children here in henderson that doesn't really have a place to sleep."
Almost 100 families in henderson applied for this year's build a bed program and it all began with just 10 beds back in 2015.
Even volunteers can't believe the need in just their town alone.
Says,"they scratch their head and say 'golly day, i can't believe we have 50 more beds to build."
Those involved with this program?
Hope the new sleeping arrangements will have effects that go beyond the home.
Says,"it's proven scientifically that our sleep patterns have an effect on our daily lives so when you think about a child who is sleeping in a not good situation, it's only going to have a negative impact on him or her.
If a child has a good bed to sleep in, then he can have a better life tomorrow, perform better in school, he can perform better in life just in general."
Katelyn says,"henders on's build a bed will have helped 160 children after this year's event and they hope it will make a lasting impact on the children each and everyday.
