Records show that the lowest temperature ever recorded there was -83 degrees Fahrenheit.

During January, AccuWeather says Yakutsk will usually drop to -42 degrees on average.

Despite its freezing weather, nearly 300,000 people live in the area.

The city contains lots of museums and art galleries, and local restaurants boast a distinct cuisine.

The village, which recorded -88 degrees in 2018, has a population of just under 500
