Large civet cat being rescued from deadly snare in eastern India

A large civet cat was freed from a fence-snare after being captured by villagers in east India.

The incident happened at a farm near Urali, Telengapentha in Odisha on February 21, 7:30am.

The civet cat was found stuck in the snare by nearby villagers who tried to kill the animal, but luckily nature conservation volunteers stopped them.

The animal was stuck for an estimated five hours, and had to be restrained by sealing its head inside a rescue crate, allowing its body to be freed from the snare by the rescue team.

Reportedly, the animal will be released in the wild after it recovers its strength and is well hydrated.
