Pet of the Week: Peaches

Wecome back to newswatch 12 midday and meet peaches, our pet of the week this week!

She is a 2 year old australian cattle dog/blue heeler mix looking for her perfect garden to bloom in!

Peaches was surrendered to the shelter after she decided a visitor was not a friend.

What this means is that she is a cautious girl who bonds closely and can be protective of her family.

Her humans can help her understand how to do that in the best ways, by allowing her to settle in and build confidence.

In unfamiliar situations, fast movements could put her on the defensive.

She does take direction well and looks to her humans to guide her.

She is likely to do best with older kids or possibly no kids at all in a home.

But when she's settled in ... peaches is a love bug!

Taking an obedience class would be a great idea for peaches -- helping dog and human bond & learn.

At 6 months old, peaches had an accident that left her with an occasional limp.

She still moves well, is healthy and still needs moderate exercise.

This sweet girl does well with most dogs who are respectful not rambunctious.

Well with cats ... and she trained!
