Sunday was opening day for the Whiteaker Community Market’s farm stand.

The market is now in its fifth market season and launched in 2016.

News farmers markets are considered "essential services" during the pandemic.

And some of them are now back in season.

The whit-ahker community market first launched in 20-16 and is a space for small vendors who are just getting started.

They're typically at sco-bert garden park in eugene but things look a little different with tight social distancing precautions.

"there's a huge need for fresh produce in our neighborhood.

We're super grateful for the grocery stores here to be open.

We think that we can add a lot more, in terms of really fresh, really local produce in the neighborhood."

The hope is that shoppers will feel*safe while getting their fresh produce, knowing that safety precautions are being taken.

Its open on sundays from 11-4 and can be found on blair boulevard until they transition back to their original
