An entire community is rallying behind a boy who's battling cancer during this pandemic.

They surprised him with numerous acts of kindness to lift his spririts.

New for you tonight at 6... news 10's richard solomon has more on how much this means to him and his family.

Richar} for much of his young life... carter guess has been battling cancer... and this week... he's headed to chemotherapy.

Before he leaves... an entire community is making sure he knows he is not alone in this fight.

Pk} this is 8-year-old carter guess... and this huge parade is for him.

He was so surprised to see everyone come out for him.

Nats: parade "it's going to be a lot of people that i know."

Carter was recently diagnosed -- again -- with neuroblastoma.

A cancer that develops from immature nerve cells -- there's no cure.

His mother jessica says carter was first dignosed with it when he was 4.

"i think it's harder this time.

We got 3 good years that he got to be a boy and now it's just like a nightmare all over again."

This week... carter heads back to undergo chemothepary in cincinatti, ohio.

His mother says doctors are trying to get the cancer under control.

Carter wanted to do something to prepare him for his next battle.

He wanted to color his hair blue... and others did too to support him.

"and this is for carter.

I as your pastor and this place as your church stand with you."

Gary scroggins is pastor of the first presbyterian church in brazil.

He also died his hair blue for carter... and during sunday service... he unveiled his new style and gave a special shout out to carter.

"you don't walk alone.

There are people that support him and believe in him and are thinking about him and praying for him and i hope his family feels that."

Guess says her son will win this battle again.

"staying positive as we can take it moment by moment sometimes.

And we're going to stomp it right back where it belongs again."

Richar} guess says her son's heart was overwhelmed with joy from all the kind gestures this weekend.

And carter... keep up the fight young man.
