Gov.

Andrew Cuomo announced the cancellation of the New York State Fair on Monday.

The great new york state fair is not happening this summer....because of coronavirus concerns.

This is one instance where record attendance numbers work against you.

Last year, 1.3 million people visted the fairgrounds during the 13-day run.

In april -- the governor had said that the fair shouldn't happen unless the entire state is open.

Today -- a week before vendor deposits were due -- an official decision.

We invested money.

We redid the whole state fair.

We built a new expo center 110 thousand square feet.

It's really amazing.

And it's been an economic boon for the whole region.

But this year, we are going to have to cancel it.

That makes me personally very unhappy but that is where we are 7:57 it was supposed to be a big year for the fair.... with a plan to add five more days to the event.

Many of the county fairs have also cancelled.

--boonville-oneida county fair.

--otsego county fair.

--madison county fair.

The herkimer county fair board of directors will meet a week from today....about this year's plan.
