Periyar's supporters protest after saffron ink smeared on his statue in Coimbatore

Statue of social activist, Periyar, was defaced after saffron colour was allegedly thrown on it in Coimbatore on July 17.

The incident took place Sundarapuram.

Following the incident, supporters of the South Indian social activist took to streets to protest against the dishonouring of the statue.

A case has been registered at Kuniyamuthur Police Station against Arun Krishna, a worker of Bharat Sena, in connection with throwing of saffron colour on Periyar's status in Coimbatore.

Krishna has surrendered before the police at Podanur Police Station.

It takes 2.5 hours to charge the vehicle and it can run up to 27kms. It consumes 0.6 units of electricity." The electric bike will cost around 16,000 Rs.

'Seva Saptah' is being celebrated by BJP to mark PM Modi’s birthday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi turns 70 on September 17, 2020. As a part of celebration, 70 NDMC workers were felicitated for their contribution to society. MoS Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy & Nityanand Rai felicitated the workers in Delhi. In Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, BJP workers offered a 70-kg laddoo at a temple. The 70-kg laddoo was later distributed among the locals in the area. 'Seva Saptah' or service week is also being observed from September 14 to 20. 'Seva Saptah' Abhiyan was launched by BJP National President JP Nadda on Monday. Party workers will take up social welfare activities as part of the campaign. Activities will include awareness drives on a host of issues. The 'service week' will have plasma drives & blood donation camps. As per a release, BJP will also organise 70 webinars to highlight PM's work and life. Watch the full video for more details.

The first 'Kisan Rail' from South India arrived in Delhi's Adarsh Nagar Railway Station on September 11. The train started from Andhra Pradesh's Ananthapuramu on September 09 carrying 322 tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables. Train provides fast transport connectivity between Ananthapuramu to New Delhi as it covers a distance of over 2100 Km.
