Mental health continues to be a priority in the wabash valley.

That's as "the hamilton center" is working towards being a certified "community behavioral health clinic."

They were awarded a 3 million dollar grant to make it possible.

As news jordan kudisch explains..

The new clinic could help in more ways than one.

The money gives people a chance to seek help..

Without having worry about where to go.

In vigo county alone..

Roughly 5-thousand children and adults seek services for mental health.

Having a clinic like this..

Will give more people a place to go..

When they need it most.

The program would improve access to crisis services..

Increase treament options..

And provide more psychiatric services.

Staff at hamilton center say the program is more sensitive to each person's needs.

"there's no single cookie cutter approach to supporting behavioral health needs, each one is individual.

So asking for help is the first step and that allows us to bring in a team of caring and supporting individuals that are working together to help support each consumer."

In addittion to helping those here in the valley.

It also brings in more jobs.
