One tri-state man is serving in our community in more ways than one.... and his hard work---surely isn't going unnoticed--- tonight--i introduce this week's hometown hero.

"to come here and take this community on like he has and to be so involved and be a part of it is just very heartwarming and again we are just very happy to have him on board."

If you ask officer blake hollins what he wanted to be growing up--he'll tell you a pro wrestler-- but he also kept his options open---one of his role models as a kid--local law enforcement officers-- "it's something i just always remembered how they carried themselves with such honor, dignity, and pride and the manner of how they went through and helped people, i remember that was just always really cool for me."

It wasn't until college---his mind was finally made up--- "it's just something that i always felt like 'you know what, if i could be something like that, if i could make an impact like these gentleman, i think i will."

And that he did--- officer hollins serving the evansville police department for 7 and a half years now---a job he always gives his all to-- "i wanted to give back to a big city because my main goal to law enforcement was to help a demographic that looks like me and evansville had a need there."

"you listen to the radio and you always hear him.

He's a busy officer and it's not only just arrest.

He's out there helping the citizens, you'll hear him on the radio like stranded motorist that sort of things.

He's just very helpful and doing this job for the right reasons."

But for this officer by day--- he serves our community in more ways than one--- hollins---a big brother for nearly 4 years with local non- profit big brothers big sisters--- "i just think the world of this young man.

He's a very charismatic, very intelligent, very athletic.

We get along on so many different levels and it's just an honor and pleasure to have him in my life."

"i'm there as a supportive piece to help him on his way as he grows up as a boy to a man."

For officer hollins---it's natural to put others before himself--- a man whose big heart and love for our city--- isn't going unnoticed--- "there is a lot of good to see.

There are a lot of beautiful people in this world--there are a lot of people doing outstanding things to make the world better and caring for other people."
