Mother of teen guilty of attempted murder speaks out

Lafayette mother Keya Erves is speaking exclusively with News 18 after her teenage son, Iyon Erves was found guilty for attempted murder.

Her 17-year-old son, iyon, was responsible for a shooting outside the tippecanoe mall.

According to multiple witnesses, he had the gun pointed straight at someone.

The incident happened this past december.

His sentencing was scheduled for monday, but the judge has allowed him more time.

Keya says it was hard hearing her son's verdict.

My kid, he did make a mistake, he made a mistake.

But i think, you know, we all have made mistakes but i do believe he deserves a second chance.
