In our top story at elven....counties in red zones for the coronavirus in kentucky.

According to the governor..

The white house says a number of counties in the state, are in a dangerous position with a positivity rate of ten percent or higher the governor says for the week of august 8th to 14th... the white house listed 20 kentucky counties in the red zone..with unctrollable spread... including scott, knox, and jefferson counties.

Dozens more are in the yellow zone... with a 5 to 10 percet positivity rate ... including fayette county.

The governor says the color coded ratings are released every week, and he plans to begin sharing them during his briefings on mondays or tuesdays.

"these counties which include a county that's already started school, and other's that have voted to got back here shortly, are conties that the white house has stated that are in a very concerning place, rignt now."

Says there were 627 new cases of the virus reported today..

The governor says the total positives in the commonwealth is now..

40,299.

76 of the cases..

Were of school aged children..

18 and younger and fourteen of the cases..

Were from children ages five and younger, including a one- month-old from pike county.

The governor says the overall state positivity rate is now..

5 point 48 percent.

The governor also announced 12 new deaths today.
