There are two free transportation programs that will help people get to the polls for early voting.

Early voting starts on october 6th.since the location changed to the coliseum..many people who live on the south side of fort wayne could face some challenges getting there.

Fox 55's jentill neal tells us about some programs helping people exercise their right.

It's called souls to the polls...a program created to provide transportation for early voting for those in need of a ride in october.> 23:25:23-23:25:33"for many it was a challenge to get there.

When they had to move to the coliseum to make sure everyone is covid safe, that made it even more challenging for the residents who live southeast."

Sixth district councilwoman sharon tucker reached out to the fort wayne pastor's alliance and fort wayne urban league to create a free form of transportation.there will be two primary locations to get a ride.here at come as you are community church and the fort wayne urban league.

23:25:33-23:25:48"although we know it didn't happen on purpose to minimize the voting voice, we saw it would be a disadvantage for those individuals who have issues with vehicles or mobility."

Tucker says they've already started receiving phone calls for the service.

Right now they are working to fill up the spaces on the busses.the rides will be provided october 7, 14, and 21.and it's not too late to sign up.> 23:29:03-23:29:25"we have charter busses that are going to be leaving the southeast side of fort wayne to take people to the coliseum to vote.

Once a week every wednesday leading up to the election.

On this level it is the first time we have been able to be involved in something of this magnitude and we're thankful to do so."

The northeast indiana disabilities advocacy coalition has also teamed up with community transportation network, greater fort wayne, inc, and the league to also provide free rides starting october 19th and that will continue until friday october 23rd.spaces are expected to fill up fast for both options.
